Looking Back: First Twelve Days of Early Voting
Phoenix, AZ (October 19, 2020) We are almost two weeks into the 2020 General Election early voting, and Data Orbital is continuing to update the public daily with returns from all fifteen counties across Arizona.
Through the first twelve days of voting, Democrats have been turning their ballots in much quicker than in previous years and certainly much quicker than Republicans have. As we get into the critical final two weeks of voting, we wanted to share some high-level updates.
“As anticipated, Democrats are voting earlier than in previous years,” said Data Orbital President George Khalaf. “When comparing this year’s returns to the same time in 2016, the increase of Democrats is coming primarily from likely voters who usually vote later in the cycle. While Republicans have also seen an increase in ballots, they have a much smaller turnout percentage because of likely voters holding onto their ballots for a longer period of time. Get out of the vote operations will be critical heading into these final two weeks.”

Reporting will continue every weekday until Election Day, November 3rd. We will be reporting numbers from 5 counties daily (Maricopa, Pima, Yavapai, Yuma, and Coconino) and the remaining 10 counties will be reporting weekly (as often as they make data publicly available).
